Thank you Avery for giving us great service and the food was great too Please bring back the ahi tuna tartare with Ava ado and your famous deviled. And the salmon and kale salad. Once upon a time you had grilled oysters
The food here is awesome! Everything we ordered last night was delicious. We had the shrimp tempura roll, smoked salmon appetizer, deviled eggs and a Cadillac margarita (which now reading back sounds like a weird combo but it was great)! Super cute waitress and very helpful. We even ordered the salmon to go for the next day. My only issue with this restaurant is the waitlist for the bar. That bar is always jammed. They need to add more stools by the entrance of the bar. The waitlist at the bar for the bar is not my favorite. First come first serve for me. Oh, also they need a better tv at the bar too. ***Btw- I can't forget the best part of the meal- chocolate mousse. That should be a permanent item on the menu. Delish! I think it's called the pots de creme. Yummy!!!!!!
Well, based upon my review from 11 years ago (heh), nothing much has changed. I have been here a few times throughout the years. It's always amazing and the staff are always terrific. My husband and I met just before COVID and I have been telling him about Hillstone since we first met. We just never made it in until Father's Day this year. Taeya was our waitress and she's just awesome. Very attentive, super gracious with my weird fish "allergy," and had spot on recommendations. I don't eat a lot of meat - this visit was for nostalgia for me and steak for him. Spinach Artichoke Dip - I have no idea why we ordered this. We had menu paralysis because we wanted literally everything. I didn't care for it. It is served with salsa and sour cream. I found it to be *very* sweet. Hubs though it was great. Everything else was delicious and cooked to perfection. Just an FYI, I'd probably skip dessert. They don't have a ton of options and there are *so many* places downtown to get a freaking fantastic sweet. That said, still get a cocktail or two! P.S. They ask you to dress nicely for a reason. Not because it is a $500+ steak house but because they just have an atmosphere and would like to keep it more polished. There was a guy seated near us in basketball shorts. Like, c'mon.
Love the vibe here! Definitely more of a classier restaurant with a dress code and an overall older crowd of people. Service and our server were terrific, would try something different if I were to return. Would highly suggest a reservation on a Saturday night
Omg the French dip sandwhich is to die for. I ordered a burger and my bf got a French dip sandwhich. For our sides we got the tabbouleh salad. The size of the food and salad side was huge where it's good enough for 2 meals in my opinion. In addition, the ambience and service is 11/10. I love the hospitality and the fact that they clean your table after every part of the meal. I will definitely be coming here for the French dip every time I visit Phoenix.
Sat at the bar.. Party of 1... Good fast service.. Bartender was friendly and fast.. I had the deviled eggs and the spinach artichoke dip.. I didn't want too much during lunch but always can count on Hillstone to get the job done.. Love the ambience and patio seating area as well..
I had the pressed sushi which was good (it would have been much better if it was crispy rice though, the texture of the rice was lacking, the small house salad which was surprisingly good- and the crispy chicken sandwiches that my coworkers ordered looked quite tasty! I think there are better sushi places, but it's nice there is such a wide variety on the menu.
This is a higher end restaurants with locations in various cities. It does have a dress code, is fairly priced for the experience and consistent quality, and at times can be really busy, so be prepared and make reservations unless you are willing to wait. Now that we have the ground rules down and expectations, this is a great place to have a meal. The service is top notch, friendly and professional wait staff. The meals here are always consistently well prepared and seasoned, portion sizes are good and the food is certainly higher quality. Pescatarian here so I can vouch for the tuna and salmon salad being great! Cook on the salmon is always great! The restaurant is always clean and the experience is quite nice. Open kitchen that you can clearly see while walking through the restaurant is a nice touch.
my favorite favorite favorite place to happy hour! Same staff, always remember your drinks, etc. Atmosphere I fantastic. Lots of interesting people here. My go to for work lunches and happy hour
